  i had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).

  (and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).

  anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

  10,000 steps a day .....................are you kidding ???

  i have read to get your exercise quoter in for the day you should be walking at least 10,000 steps per day.................yikes.

  ive just taken the dog for his usual 30 minute walk and on average i clocked up about 500 steps per 5 mins...............it wasnt very acurate cos he kept stopping and starting...................but that s only about 3,000 steps per 30 minute walk.. as im not very active ( spend too much time on here) where do i get my other 7,000 steps in ?

  i would have to be walking round all day.

  my care had an interesting conversion with 2 male jws.. they said that world peace(or should that be armageddon?

  ) will happen any second soon, so they were desperately knocking on people doors to convert them!.

  My ex wife keeps going on about the end of religion is about to happen - in line with their tract i think. I thought it had fallen when the WTS was chosen in 1919 Double talk as usual from those book publishers. Its a lesson in how to live in constant fear and guilt, how often can individuals be whipped up into a another nearly here???

  Thanks for the comments Blondie!

  I was using example's of charactors such as Job to illustrate the big gulf between the OT and the NT, in one you have God allow Job to suffer - aparantly for some test his enemy gives him - and yet Job and his wife loses their first 10 children (how loving of God) where as in the NT its all God is love and turn the other cheek, but how can it be the same God?

  Who else has trouble making friends?

  haven't posted here in a while, but i"ve been out now almost three years.

  just looking to hear from others who have had trouble making friends due to a childhood of jw antisocialism toward the real world.

  it's really starting to piss me off that i still keep people at a distance and do things to nip any new friendships at the bud when it gets that far.

  I think this is a great topic to bring up so thank you for doing so. I too have had a long period of time without friends and its been hard going to survive the loneliness. I think when your going through the healing process of leaving the WTS, and your maybe being shunned by your former friends, its certainly an uphill struggle for a lot of us to adjust and even want to be proactive about it.

  I have to say that i've made a few new friends quite recently, and its been really good. I dont mind telling them about my past. Some want to talk about it, others are not so interested or understanding, and as has been said it good to know people here for support. My feeling is you have to force yourself to take up and make oportunities that come your way. I too get that feeling of wanting to deny myself going out with people to remain in my comfort zone, but I figure I wont move on until I get involved. I have hobbies that i've neglected and have now re embraced and meet people that way. After all in a sense the meetings were a form of hobby - in that it was an interest that we had and went too and had friends through. So finding another thing to be involved in and be where people are at is the key to forming friendships. I wish everyone the best at making their new friends.

  How will Aust. Religious Vilification Laws Affect JWs? (& Tract Campaign)

  ) regarding religious & racial vilification.

  I'm all for keeping as many freedoms as we can, we dont want to legislate on everything a person can say. Obviously there are times where some things are intollerable, but if they (the dubies) got stopped for saying things, by extension could we freely talk about the dubs in the same manor?

  this week elder z shows up at my house twice, unexpectedly.

  the first time i didn't see him, but my daughter did and didn't answer the door.

  the next time i decided not to answer the door since i didn't feel like talking to him.

  Chances are with his busy schedule (especially at the meeting) he may not even mention anything. I remember a mate of mine and his marriage was failing and an Elder asked him in front of the whole group if his wife was ok (she had not attended for months) he simply replied 'yes she's fine' , I think this approach threw the Elder off balance, I mean what do you say next to that reply unless your a kamikaze person who wants to out all the potencially sorded details in front of everyone?

  Again using that approach, if he came up to you and mentioned about coming round you can simply reply 'yes I know I was in'. They only have power and authority over us because we give that to them, as soon as we stop doing that, it melts away.

  Matt 22:23-30--no sex for resurrected ones?

  the wts promotes the idea that in the "new system" members of the great crowd, who are not resurrected, will be able to marry and have children.. but what about those that are resurrected?.

  does the wts apply matt 22:23-30 to people resurrected on earth?

  (the passage is obviously applied to people who were pre-new covenant).

  A very good thread - this place is amazing! How they have screwed up the scriptures in order to make them fit the doctrine rather than let the Bible speak for itself. This so obviously refers to those resurected to heaven, the whole concept of trying to give it an earthly application is so utterly flawed. Like many of you here I saw this and it was a moment of doubt, add up all those moments and eventualy something gives, it might take years but it is possible that many more dubs will retain enough thinking ability to see the truth.

  Did anyone else wonder why?

  i always thought that if you want to do 6 or 60 hours a month in field service, why make a big fanfare about it and become a pioneer or whatever?

  i always thought if you want to go out loads, then go out loads; why do you need a group of "elders" to approve of it and make an announcement?

  i've read about a few on this board who got turned down for pioneering.

  I only auxilary pioneered a few times so not sure i'm that qualified to answer, but (lol) i'd say its another form of control, you are so right there is no reason why anyone could not do as many or as few hours as they pleased, but introduce a 'priveledge' governed by the society and local Elders and you have another tool. You can claim that pioneering is a better 'career' than the world has to offer, you have to be approved and so on. Of course its not biblical to place a title or amount of preaching hours on anyone but as we know the WTS loves to add to its members burden.

  If people should thank Him for the good why not blame Him for the bad

  ok the thread on thanking jehovah for keepping a purse safe while left in a shopping cart, got me to thinking.. if we are suppossed to thank god for the good things in life, why is it wrong to blame him for the bad things?.

  now i am not saying i blame god for anything.

  so please don't comment on this thread saying i am bad person for asking this question, because i don't buy that.. i am just asking why does he only get the praise and none of the blame?.
